What to think?

Today news is being made about a new video from Al-Qaeda (apparently an American who joined them is the one speaking) that makes new threats about a possible upcoming terror attack. The video is supposed to be about one hour long and its message is very cryptic. Things like this always make me a little uneasy. We don't want to see another attack in the U.S. that is for sure. I pray it doesn't happen again. What worries me about these videos though is the overall war on terror. Is it winnable? How can we track our progress? How do you really fight a war on terror? I'm glad I do not have to make these decisions. I am glad I don't have President Bush's job.

Despite saying I'm glad I don't have his job, I see one big blunder made by President Bush in this war. I believe we left Afghanistan far too early (edit- we haven't totally left Afghanistan, but our main focus and numbers were pulled from there). Sadamm Huessin wasn't an immient threat and the WMDs haven't been found. Iraq is a better place for not having Sadamm in power, don't get me wrong, but I think Iraq diverted our attention from the still very real threat of osama bin laden and his dirtbag buddies. Where are they? Why is this video showing me that they are very much still active?

The situation in the middle east just never seems to get any better. One can only shudder to think that it may get only worse. I pray for our troops (especially since I found out a high school cross country teammate of mine is currently in Iraq) and hope things get better over there.

As far as Kerry's "toughness" with dealing with terror, I think he is getting a bad rap. He has never had an opportunity to show what he can do. He doesn't get a "two-week trial run." So Bush is at an advantage because he has a plan and has been following through with it. I will say though that I think when push comes to shove, Kerry would also stand strong. He is an American and would protect the country to the best of his ability. I guess we'll find out on Nov. 2 what the country thinks and then from there we can only pray and hope America is protected and does what is right. Later
